Church3.0 Podcast: Jay Kranda: Beyond Streaming
If you think your church needs more ideas, you might want to try thinking of things from a different perspective.
Most of us have plenty of ideas. But we’re not good at the execution part. It’s the path from theory to reality where things break down.
That’s why I recently had Jay Kranda, Tech Pastor at Saddleback Church, on the Church3.0 Podcast. We explored the gap between online streaming and making a real impact in the digital age.
Online church continues to change, but the vision and purpose behind each video and post remains the same. It’s easy to slip into a “post it and see what happens” mentality.
Jay shares practical frameworks to go further. He helps leaders see a path past the streaming statistics, helping us obsess less over views and more over how we can enter into meaningful engagement with our online communities.
If you’re looking for better ways to align your digital goals with your local church mission, this one’s for you. Check out the episode here:
Friction in Giving …and Engagement
I can’t stop thinking about an article Justin Dean wrote for us back in March. Justin is an author, entrepreneur, and marketing leader who understands how secular business principles impact our church mission and impact.
In the recent article, called How Friction in Church Giving Prevents Engagement, Justin digs into the giving process as more than a way to financially support your church. It’s another form of engagement — at least, that’s true when it isn’t bogged down.
Along with interrupting conviction and generosity, Justin points out that friction in giving has the potential to block meaningful next steps. It can stop someone from responding to a special initiative or downloading a discipleship app.
In other words, when your digital giving and related activities are too complex or difficult, it can inadvertently send the wrong message. It says you don’t prioritize the online experience for people living in a digital age.
If your online giving needs an update, this is a great way to get your team fired up about something as quietly critical as online giving. It helps everyone become more aware of the ripple effect that something as simple as a giving experience can have.
