Hey,
Tyler here.
Well, January went quickly. February’s already off and running. Have you thought about the fact that Easter is on April 5th? (I’m guessing you’re very aware of that right now.)
It’s interesting. You’ll be getting this update pretty close to Super Bowl Sunday. That is the big day for a lot of sports fans. They go all-out on clothing, food, and parties. Even the commercials are interesting. It’s the day you can expect people to show up, even when they didn’t watch a minute of football up to that point.
You also need to prepare for all of the celebrations — early. Stores are overrun the week before Super Bowl Sunday.
That got me thinking: Easter? It’s kind of like the Super Bowl Sunday of church.
Think about it. Regular attendees show up excited. People who never step foot in your building otherwise show up in their Sunday best (or whatever the dress code is at your church).
It also takes a lot of up-front prep time and intentional planning to accommodate the crowds and not lose people in the cracks. That’s what I’m thinking about as we dive into this month’s update…
Are you ready for Easter? If not, here are some thoughts and resources to help you set the stage.
Creating Safe, Reliable, Low-Friction Connections at Church
We rolled out Apollos Tap last year for easy engagement experiences, and it got me thinking about the importance of low-friction connections at church. These days, low friction can mean a lot of things, and in church, I think it increasingly has to do with bridging the gap between in-person and online experiences.
Church is hybrid now. We gather in person on the weekend. Then we stay connected during the week. How do you smooth the communication channels and keep people focused throughout that back-and-forth experience?
Our latest article, How to Create Safe, Reliable, Low-Friction Church Connections, explores the importance of these hybrid opportunities to draw people into the faith experience.
Check it out! It’s great food for thought as you plan out how you’ll engage on Easter.
Church3.0 Podcast: Matt Engel: From Data to Discipleship
Data is a huge part of modern discipleship. It helps you build trust, engage new guests, and make better decisions.
At least, that’s the case when you have good data, and you know what to look for.
In a recent episode of the Church3.0 podcast, I talked to Matt Engel, Data Strategist and Gloo Executive, to help understand how to use data to measure real ministry health.
We took the conversation past basic attendance and views metrics. This is a great one to tune in for as you set your goals and try to measure what matters this Easter.
If you want to hear Matt’s thoughts, check out the episode here:
What’s New With the Apollos Platform?
NEW Gratitude feature (coming soon):
This one’s coming soon, but we couldn’t help talking about it a little bit.
Soon, users of an Apollos church engagement ecosystem will be able to share their specific moments of gratitude. They’ll be able to see other people’s messages, too, and celebrate together.
Here’s a preview of how the Share Gratitude feature will work in the app.
We’re always working to improve the platform. If you have any recommendations for what you’d like to see added, hit reply or send a message through our support form.
We Were Wondering…
How would you describe the overall engagement level of your congregation right now? Click the option that best describes your congregation.
- Highly engaged — people show up, serve, and participate beyond Sundays
- Moderately engaged — solid attendance, but limited involvement beyond services
- Sunday-focused — attendance is okay, but weekday engagement is low
- Disconnected — noticeable drop in participation and ownership
- In a rebuilding season — not getting a lot of people to connect or commit
That’s it this time. Keep an eye out for more podcasts, updates, and resources in the weeks ahead.
Thank you for your continued partnership. We look forward to building the future of the church together.
